I was walking into a synagogue for my partner’s nephew’s bar-mitzvah but as we crossed the road to enter a man approaching the other way looked over at us with a menacing sneer and made a definite hissing sound (alluding to the gas chambers) before laughing to himself. I have never experienced anything like this before and was deeply shocked and upset.
